Wireless Keyboard Mouse Lags, Stutter Or Hang When USB 3.0 External HDD Connected: Tips and Tricks t

It does work with a usb cord. But that defeats the purpose of having a wireless mouse. Using up a USB port with the receiver is equally annoying, considering the M1 has zero USB ports. Mac devices charge via USB so having added port doggles already hanging off the side is bad enough. The Logic Tech mouse worked fine on my older Intel MacBook. I wish Logitech could address this issue, as it seems they are not up to date with newer OS.

Wireless Keyboard Mouse Lags, Stutter Or Hang When USB 3.0 External HDD Connected

According to some Windows users, plugging in a USB drive causes other connected devices, like the mouse and keyboard, to stop working. A few of these users reported that the issue occurred with wireless devices as well. Peripherals connected via Bluetooth stopped working when a USB drive was plugged into one of the PC ports.

Looking at this issue critically, we discovered several reasons that may cause the problem of a connected mouse or keyboard not working when a USB flash drive is plugged in. Knowing the possible reasons given below should help with solving the issue and also avoiding the problem in the future.

Your wireless peripherals may stop working when a USB flash drive is plugged in due to the active PC ports being on the same side. If your devices are all connected to ports on one side of the computer, this issue can arise.

We have a small client that has been setup with 5 new DELL Inspiron 5593 Laptops (i7, 16g RAM, 500g SSD) and Kensington SD3500v Docking Stations (connected via USB 3.0 port) running fully patched Win10 Pro. Both the mouse and keyboard are suffering from momentary hangs or lagging. Happens for about 1 second or more multiple times every minute. It is just as if the devices were wireless and losing their connection to the USB dongle. But we have already switched between multiple wired units and the behavior continues. Also tried: - Temporarily disabled ESET on both client and server- Plugged Mouse and Keybd directly into laptop USBs- Attempted various posted Mouse & Keybd lagging fixes found online: disable Realtek Audio, disable Nvidia drivers, etcAll the connections are direct wired over gigabit ethernet to a Ubiquity 16-port managed switch. There is primary DELL 740 Server running VMware 6.0.7 and Windows Server Essentials 2019. Other programs include ACT! and Office365, but nothing else significant.

If you have a cell phone near to your wireless receiver move it far from the receiver. I had two cells near it and it was a nightmare...not only the mx mouse was horrible but also the keyboard. Moving the cell solved all the issues... As we can deprehend the problem is related to interference....

Brilliant! Worked for me also. Use a HP laptop but in the home office it is connected to a Logitech K800 keyboard and Performance MX mouse with a single Unifying receiver; all was well until I had to replace the Samsung monitor and that's when the problem started! Searched all over various forums; updated drivers, changed the USB port the receiver was plugged in to, etc., etc., then came across this post and once the receiver was moved away from the laptop (just by a few inches) all was well. Not sure why changing the monitor lead to the problem; perhaps because it is now connected via a display port not HDMI but following the advice above the problem has been resolved. Thanks for the tip.

I have a Mac and tried most of these comments without success. It doesn't seem to be a brand, just Wireless Mouse, made in China and I've used it for about a year with no problems until recently. I'm using an old wireless mouse and keyboard now with no problems. But I prefer the one that's gone wild as it's smaller and the mouse turns itself off. I tried changing from the USB extension directly to the MacMini but it didn't help. And the Trackpad is not connected, I've set the Mouse at a little slower and I'm not using the Natural direction.

My MX Ergo worked flawlessly for the last 3 months inserted front panel Desktop. Only recently has MX Ergo become erratic. SOLUTION : Is there additional devices attached to the Nano receiver such as a keyboard? My keyboard has difficulty maintaining a charge; thus when it goes low charge - it must be affecting the reception on the Nano. Charge up the Keyboard & everything is working fine! Shut down the keyboard - does it affect the mouse operation?

So much stupid comments..... First let ask Logitech and Microsoft what they do with drivers for wireless mouse?Everyone spoke how signal from receiver is messing with something that come from the computer ?!?Interesting what is changed inside computer to make mouse that work perfectly almost 2 year acting like a crazy frog?Let me tell you - absolutely nothing is changed Just is about a time to spend some money because corporation will stop working.First - Microsoft refuse (restrict) to use many original drivers from manufacturers because they not have way to test it (actually they don't want to spend money in that direction) and is better to not use them.Second if you see manufacturers stop making drivers for their hardware especially mouse keyboards and other wireless things. Even they do - Microsoft delete them after one or two updates. So I'm not happy to put cable on receiver because if this is thru i need to have receiver with cable from manufacturer. If they not tested their products we need to stop use them and return these that not work properly.

The cursor on my Logitech mouse (M220, w/unifying receiver) started "jiggling" without any mouse movement. It started when I moved the usb nano-receiver from the 4-port hub to a dedicated unused usb port on the laptop. Moving it back to the hub (connected to another usb port on the same laptop) fixed the problem.

I found that the problem was solved just making sure the receiver had a direct line of sight with the mouse and keyboard making sure that it is not obscured by the computer itself. I all had to do was rotate the Surface Pro 7 90 degrees and the problem when away.

I have had the same jumping wireless mouse problem. This forum has provided useful solutions. I have experimented a little over some weeks to find the cause of radio interference.Found that a USB extender cable is essential here, mouse and keyboard are unusable without it.Found a thin USB cable does not work as well as a thicker (branded) one that probably has better shielding. Also having the USB cable and receiver near a newer monitor and monitor cable gives more problems -the newer monitor has HDMI ports and cable. Using the USB cable and receiver near older monitors that have DVI ports and cable does not give problems.

I got a wireless keyboard, and was blaming it for my mouse problems. But after reading this, I realized it was because I previously plugged the mouse's receiver into a USB port built into my old wired keyboard, and when I got the wireless keyboard, I switched to plugging the receiver directly into the computer. As soon as I moved the receiver to an external hub instead, presto! Problem fixed! Thanks so much!!!

THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU. My new logitech wireless keyboard/mouse combo worked fine for a couple of weeks, then the mouse started skipping like mad. I was ready to toss it in the trash, when I decided to search for a solution. This worked great for me!

My problem is that Windows will occasionally stutter / lag, for no apparent reason, causing the computer to be unusable for tens of seconds to minutes at a time. When using the computer, the main symptom of this problem is that the mouse cursor will freeze and stutter when trying to move it across the screen while the computer is also unresponsive to keyboard input. Suddenly the cursor will be stuck and not move or respond to clicks, then it will jump across the screen a some distance (in response to my shaking the mouse during the lag time) and then freeze again. This problem is observed across many different usage scenarios (while using different applications, or combination of applications), as well as when there are no applications running at all. The problem has been observed across multiple wireless mice as well as when no physical mouse is in use at all and I am solely using the touch screen or touch pad functionalities, in which case, the computer temporarily becomes unresponsive to touch. The entire episode typically lasts about 30 seconds to several minutes and then the computer returns to a normal, responsive state. This problem occurs at least once per hour and often more frequently. I have monitored memory and CPU utilization during and immediately after a few episodes and have not noticed any particularly great stresses on the computer (a few GB of memory in use, and very low CPU utilization). The problem seems to occur independent of the power/performance setting in windows (i.e., "high performance" or "long battery life" mode).I have tried the recommendations described here, where applicable, but to no avail: -pointer-lags-or-freezes-in-windows-10/ _keeps_freezing_in_windows_10/cwirf9q/Computer: New, HP Spectre x360 Convertible 15-bl1XXOS: Windows 10 (1709, build16299.125), clean install from Microsoft, with all OS updates and hardware drivers installedMemory: 16 GBCPU: Intel 8th generation i7Solid state hard drive

According to Windows Report, graphic cards have caused people issues with mouse and keyboard lags, particularly when playing video games or using other software that requires a lot of resources. However, sound cards and even the system BIOS have also been known to cause problems.

If you are using Windows 11 preview build 22000.100 and the mouse stutters or lags only when the desktop is visible, perhaps this is because of a bug in Dev Channel. To fix your mouse issue, upgrade Windows 11 to a new version and Microsoft may patch in the new update.

IST 01:18 pm: Apple has now fixed one of the many display issues plaguing the Mac mini M1 wherein external displays showed a black screen when connected using an HDMI to DVI converter, as per macOS Big Sur 11.2 release notes. Read more here. 2ff7e9595c
